NIGHT 2 RECAP

POINTS LEADER YOST EXTENDS POINTS LEAD WITH VICTORY
Pole sitter, Krys Yost, led the IMCA Sport Compact feature to the green flag to kick off Night 2 of the Iron Man 100 weekend. Yost led the first lap before James Gilbert blew by to take the lead on lap two. Yost regathered himself and a few laps later, retook the top spot. It was then a hard fought battle for second between Gilbert and Alex Thompson. When the checkered flag waved, James Gilbert held on to finish second ahead of Alex Thompson. Brian Hughbanks made a last lap pass to finish fourth over Paul Schuh while Krys Yost led all but one of the 15 laps to win the IMCA Sport Compact feature.

APPERT GOES BACK-TO-BACK IN MANDAN
In the Hobby Stock feature, John Gartner Jr led early but his lead was short lived as last week’s feature winner, Derrick Appert quickly passed him. Gartner then fell into the clutches of third place Bill Hultberg. A mid-race caution erased Appert’s lead but on the restart, Hultberg slipped by Gartner to take the second position. Smoke started to escape from under the fourth place car of Kelly Hoerner with eight laps remaining. Unfortunately, the engine let go with six laps to go, handing over the fourth position to Josh Roehrich. On the restart, Gartner retook the second position but a late race caution would set up a three lap shootout for the win. Derrick Appert pulled away on the restart and went on to win back-to-back features in Mandan. It was almost too close to call for second between John Gartner Jr and Bill Hultberg but scoring officials declared Hultberg the runner-up. Josh Roehrich finished fourth while Trenton Kohler finished a career best of fifth place.

ROSSELLI ROASTS FIELD AND RETURNS TO DACOTAH SPEEDWAY VICTORY LANE
Robby Rosselli and Kelly Jacobson battled hard for the lead in the IMCA Sport Mod feature. Third place Rich Pavlicek quickly caught the leaders and challenged Jacobson for second. Pavlicek flew by Jacobson and wasted no time reeling in Rosselli. It was a hot Saturday night but the battle for the lead was even hotter. Pavlicek tried the outside, he tried the inside but he could not get around the bright yellow car of Rosselli. Racing to the white flag, Pavlicek threw a Hail Mary slider but Rosselli held on. Robby Rosselli pulled away on the final lap to win his first feature victory since 2018 at Dacotah Speedway. Rich Pavlicek had to settle for second while Kelly Jacobson held off his father, Scott Jacobson for third. Drew Papke rounded out the top five.

KELLER OUTLASTS STAR STUDDED FIELD
The final feature of the weekend was the predominate Iron Man 100. Mark Dahl and Marlyn Seidler earned the front row starting positions and led the field to do battle for 100 laps. Seidler grabbed the lead when the green flag waved and within a handful of laps, started catching the tail end of the field. Lapped traffic was an issue as it allowed Brady Bjella and Kollin Hibdon to quickly catch and pass Seidler for the top spot. While battling for the lead, the two-time defending race winner, Hibdon, had a flat tire which brought out the first caution. On the restart, Jason Wolla passed Seidler for second and quickly passed Bjella for the lead. Wolla led a handful of laps before his car got tight, allowing Jeremy Keller to grab the lead before a slow running Hibdon on the front stretch brought out another caution. Two more cautions would regroup the field, allowing Aaron Turnbull, who started 23rd, to climb through the field and take the lead before the mid-race pit stop at lap 50.
Drivers and pit crews brought their race cars down in front of the fans to add fuel and make changes. After their five minute time limit was up, they hopped back behind the wheel for the final 50 laps. Turnbull led the field back to the green flag but Keller quickly motored by Turnbull at the start. Keller pulled away and started lapping the field. Jeremy Keller lapped all the way up to the fifth position when the checkered flag waved to win his first Iron Man 100 championship and take home the $5000 prize. Aaron Turnbull finished a distant second while Marlyn Seidler held off Mark Dahl for fourth. Jason Wolla was the first car one lap down in the fifth position.

NIGHT 1 RECAP

DOMAGALA RIPS UP THE COMPETITION WITH DOMINATING WIN
Passing points set the line-ups for the feature races throughout the weekend. The WISSOTA Street Stock feature kicked off the weekend with Geoff Hellman and Hunter Domagala on the front row. When the green flag waved, Domagala grabbed the lead but Hellman stayed in toe. As the leaders pulled away from the field, it was an exciting battle for third place between Matt Dosch, Jason Meidinger and Jeremy Castro. As the laps wound down, Todd Carter, who started 18th made it a four car battle for third. Meidinger slipped into the third position, bringing Carter with him. When the checkered flag waved, Hunter Domagala dominated by leading all 40 laps and finishing nine seconds ahead of second place Geoff Hellman. Jason Meidinger finished third ahead of Todd Carter and Matt Dosch.

WIEST DOUBLES UP IN MANDAN
In the INEX Legends feature, youngsters Ryan Erdahl and Gage Madler led the field to the green flag. Donavin Wiest, who started third based on passing points, quickly passed Erdahl for the lead. Cautions plagued the feature but gave many different drivers a shot at Wiest for the lead including Alex Kukowski, Dauntae Martin, Noah Madler and Brandon Anderson. However, on the final restart with five laps to go, Wiest pulled away as Noah Madler, Kukowski and Preston Martin raced three wide for second. As Wiest stretched his lead over the field, Preston Martin shuffled into second. Preston Martin would settle for second ahead of third place Alex Kukowksi. Noah Madler finished fourth while Dayton Olheiser held off Brandon Anderson for fifth. Meanwhile, it was Donavin Wiest finding victory lane for the second time this season at Dacotah Speedway.

DAHL EARNS POLE POSITION FOR IRON MAN 100
In IMCA Modified Qualifying Feature #1, the feature that would determin the starting line up for the inside row of the Iron Man 100 the following day, pole sitter Quentin Kinzley quickly pulled away from the field. While Kinzley hugged the guardrail, the drivers behind him quickly realized the high side was the fast side. Second place Mark Dahl started to reel Kinzley in and with six laps remaining, passed Kinzley on the high side. Mark Dahl pulled away and cruised to victory to grab the pole position for the Iron Man 100. Quentin Kinzley, who led much of the race, finished in second place. Brady Bjella made a late race pass to finish third ahead of defending race winner, Kollin Hibdon. Jason Wolla, who had an up and down race, finished in the fifth position.

SEIDLER SET TO START OUTSIDE POLE FOR IRON MAN 100
Local veterans, Jeremy Keller and Marlyn Seidler, led the field to the green flag in IMCA Modified Qualifying Feature #2. They briefly raced side by side until Seidler cleared Keller for the top spot. Seidler pulled away as Keller had his hands full first with Hank Berry, then with Shawn Strand. A series of mid-race cautions regrouped the field. On a restart with four laps to go, Keller and Strand made contact resulting with Strand spinning in turn two. Strand was sent to the tale and on the final restart of the evening, Keller gave it all he had to get by Seidler. However, it was Marlyn Seidler who would hang on and grab the victory to start on the outside pole position in the Iron Man 100. Jeremy Keller finished second ahead of Logan Schmitz as Hank Berry held off Johnny Corell for fourth.
