Registration fee will be $30, payable to “Bismarck Mandan Stock Car Association” per vehicle and that amount is required with your registration form.

All contestants and pit crew members must sign a waiver understanding that they are competing at their own risk and that they will not bring suit against any officials, employees, event sponsors or the Bismarck-Mandan Stock Car Association. By signing the release form, you agree to all rules set forth. BMSCA officials have the right to approve or reject any or all entry applications.


Driver and pit crew members must be at least 18 years old or at least 16 years old and have a minor release form signed by parent or guardian. Each vehicle may only be entered into competition (1) time per event. Each driver may enter only (1) time per class. Driver must have a valid state driver’s license. All individuals will be charged an admission fee to enter the event at the pit gate.

All vehicles must pass tech inspection before competing. If the officials determine a vehicle is unsafe, the officials have the right to not allow the vehicle to compete. The vehicle does not need a current inspection sticker, license or insurance. The vehicle must be in the same physical condition as at the time it was last inspected by our BMSCA track officials to compete. TECH INSPECTION AREA CLOSES ONE HOUR BEFORE SESSION IS SCHEDULED TO START.

All drivers must attend the driver’s meeting 30 minutes prior to the event unless approved by the Competition Director

A vehicle may be disqualified for either emotional or physical reasons by Competition Director or track officials. Example: Drugs or drinking alcoholic beverages. (Any driver or any of his or her pit crew consuming an intoxicating agent, and/or drugs, prior to or during the event will be disqualified from the event. Drivers will be held responsible for the actions of their crew)

If any vehicle and/or driver is disqualified for any reason, no payout of prize winnings will occur for that competitor.

Competition vehicles must be operated in a safe manner before, during and after the event while on the park grounds. Track officials have the right to stop and disqualify any vehicle being operated in a reckless manner. Pit and staging areas speed limit is 3 M.P.H. Noncompliance will result in loss of any prize money.

Competitors must wait for the starting signal from the Starter Flagman before starting their runs. All competitors must stop immediately upon signal of the Red Flag displayed by any track official. a. THERE WILL BE A DESIGNATED STOPPING AREA AT FINISH LINE, FAILURE TO STOP INSIDE THIS AREA WILL RESULT IN DQ.

Only the driver will be allowed in the vehicle when it is being towed or driven in the pit area, staging area, or track. No riders in or on any vehicle while in the pit area, staging area, or in the track area.

When a competition vehicle’s engine is running, a competent driver must be in the driver’s seat. No exceptions. Automatic disqualification for violation.

Track officials will have the option to check competitor’s vehicles for rule violations at any time; prior to, during, or after the event.

Track officials will have the option to require any part of the competition vehicle be disassembled by the driver and his pit crew for any inspection requested or required.

All contestants must drive the vehicle onto track and into position to compete under its own power and must leave track under its own power unless for breakage

No one is allowed on the track except for track officials and contestants.

Vehicle Rules

Fuel: Pump gas only. All forms of nitro are illegal as a fuel or additive. Nitrous oxide or accelerators are not permitted. Diesel fuel is permitted in diesel engines.

It is recommended that all vehicles be equipped with at least a 2-1/2 lb. dry chemical fire extinguisher or 1 lb. halon extinguisher. Extinguishers must be fully charged, in working condition, and secured in a convenient location next to the driver.

Seat belts (both lap belts and shoulder strap) required and must be worn.

All vehicles must have a 4-wheel braking system in good working condition. No individual wheel brakes allowed.

No profanity or anything considered inappropriate will be displayed in or on the vehicle. If seen while competing, the vehicle will be disqualified with loss of any prize money. Driver is responsible for monitoring their vehicle.

All open body, removable, fiberglass or soft top vehicles must have at least a roll bar substantial enough to support the weight of the vehicle in the event of a roll over. Roll bars are recommended in all vehicles in competition. Any vehicle with the windshield removed is recommended to have hardware cloth, plexi glass or some other form of driver protection installed in its place to protect the driver from flying stones and debris. Driver side windows or driver nets should be utilized to protect from injury during the event.

Drivers must wear D.O.T. approved full-face helmet. Helmet strap must be fastened. Drivers must wear long pants and long sleeve shirts. No open footwear allowed. Drivers must use a SFI neck collar or similar during the event. No rolled up shirts, towels or anything else will be allowed as neck collars. This is mandatory and will be checked at inspection. Fire retardant jackets and pants, shoes and gloves are HIGHLY recommended.

Vehicles must have an original firewall and floor in the original location. The only holes allowed in the floor or firewall will be for brakes, clutch, or transmission controls and wiring. If the battery is relocated, it must be in a plastic battery box securely mounted

Tires must have D.O.T. approved number. Maximum tire height is 36 inches. O.E.M. type wheels are required, maximum wheel width 10”. No cutting of tire tread allowed. (Non-tagged vehicles only). Hubcap or wheel covers must be removed before competing. No split rims allowed

No loose objects in the cab or any place else in the vehicle. Any ballast must be securely mounted.

Engine must be in its original location as intended by the manufacturer. (NO REAR ENGINE VEHICLES, NO MID ENGINE VEHICLES). Engines must be the same as came in the vehicle and in the original location. (Original engine location means just that, engine cannot be moved up, down, forward or backward from the manufactured original location). Motor mounts can be strengthened.

Body, hood, bed, fenders and wheelbase must meet O.E.M. specifications. Flat beds must be street legal for Iowa. All pick-up truck beds must be firmly attached to the chassis. If the hood is bolted down, there must be a hole in the hood that measures at least 8” in diameter above the carburetor. If the hood becomes dislodged and is blocking the vision of the driver during the event, the vehicle must stop at that location. Any deviation from this is cause for disqualification. a. TAILGATES AND ALL DEBRIS IN TRUCK BED MUST BE REMOVED PRIOR TO RACE.

All contestants are responsible for disabling all airbags in their vehicle if so equipped.

Headers and open exhaust permitted. Any turbo charged motor must have 3/8” cross bolts at 90 degrees to each other within 6 inches of each other.

Radiator must be in its original location. All engine fans must be shrouded. Radiator overflow hoses must point downward.

Must be stock factory suspension, O.E.M. replacement or equivalent. Dual shocks are permitted on the front end to reduce breakage. Original front shock must remain mounted in original location: second front shock must be original equipment replacement or equivalent for the vehicle being used. Aftermarket lift kits will be allowed (Max. lift 4”). Length of suspension travel cannot be increased except to accommodate a lift kit. Rear shocks must be mounted at original locations. All suspension components must be in good working condition. Racing suspension components will not be allowed, call the Head Tech Official if you have any questions.

It is highly recommended that all vehicles have some form of safety strap to hold up the front portion of the driveshaft in case of failure. The safety strap must be securely mounted with chain or cable (min ¼”), or steel strapping.

Fuel tanks – Stock fuel tanks in stock locations are highly recommended. Approved fuel tanks (racing fuel cell) may be relocated in the bed of pick-up trucks and must be securely mounted. No fuel tanks or fuel lines allowed inside of vehicles unless they are factory installed or they meet the following regulations. a. Approved fuel cell is used, and it is located in the rear most location in the vehicle. b. The fuel cell must be enclosed in a steel containment box manufactured by the fuel cell builder and securely mounted. c. All fuel lines must be the braided steel type lines with the proper connection fittings and be immediately routed through the floor of the vehicle.

Frames – Must be complete original frame rails and cross members at original locations. Cutting frame rails and cross members to lighten vehicles is not permitted. Frames can be repaired for rust damage. No excessive frame reinforcement allowed. Any frame reinforcement must be approved by Tech Officials.

Any use of any artificial smoke device on any vehicle anytime during or after the event will result in disqualification and loss of any prize money.

Verbal or physical abuse towards any track official or unsportsman like conduct will result in automatic disqualification.

Contest will be governed by track officials and the Competition Director with all decision’s final.

The Competition Director reserves the right to change any safety rules if they feel it is necessary.

The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of competition events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and, by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official. The Competition Director shall be empowered to permit minor deviations from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.
