The 15th annual Drive To Survive Night at the Dacotah Speedway supporting the Bismarck Cancer Center was another success on Friday, August 18th. With just one race remaining in the season (Championship Night, Aug. 25) the race for points is tight.

THOMPSON BACKFLIPS INTO VICTORY LANE
When the green flag waved in the IMCA Sport Compact feature, points leader Kyrs Yost found trouble early making contact with Tiffany Tuscherer and spinning in corner one. To avoid a caution, Yost kept moving while Zach Hughbanks and Alex Thompson battled for the lead. Racing hard for the lead, Hughbanks gets loose and nearly spins in front of the whole field, handing the lead over to Thompson. It was a chaotic race as drivers struggled to keep their cars straight. When the checkered flag waved, Alex Thompson crossed the finish line first. Zach Hughbanks finished second. Krys Yost rebounded to finish third ahead of Harrison Schwartz and Couy Snyder.

SANDBERG GOES BACK-TO-BACK IN MANDAN
Karlie Hoerner led the field to the green flag in the Hobby Stock feature. Hoerner led early before Dylan Sandberg motored by on lap three. Cautions plagued the feature but allowed Josh Roehrich and Jeremy Herr to climb through the field. On the final restart of the night, Sandberg pulled away once more as Roehrich and Herr battled for second. The race would end under yelllow-checkers for a spin in corner two by rookie driver, Qwint Irish. Devin Hanson held off Josh Roehrich for second. Jeremy Herr finished fourth while Karlie Hoerner rounded out the top five.

WIEST SQUASHES THE BAD LUCK BUG WITH VICTORY
Veteran Kevin Jensen and youngster Noah Madler started on the front row in the INEX Legend feature. Using the low line around the track, Donavin Wiest quickly raced his way to the front and battled Bryce Barnhardt for the lead. They raced side by side for several laps before Wiest cleared Barnhardt for the lead. Wiest pulled away as they jockeyed for position behind him. Points leader Preston Martin, surprisingly using the low line, passed Gage Madler for second coming to the white flag. Bryce Barnhardt slipped back to finish fourth ahead of fifth place Noah Madler. While Donavin Wiest parked it in victory lane for the third time this season.

DOMAGALA EXTENDS POINTS LEAD WITH VICTORY
Pole sitter Dustin Frank led early in the WISSOTA Street Stock feature. Points leader Hunter Domagala wasted no time charging through the field and took the lead on lap five. Domagala distanced himself from the field as the battle raged for second between Chris Welk Jr and Geoff Hellman. They flip flopped for position until Welk Jr grabbed second with eight laps to go. Shawn Volk, who started 13th, finished fourth as Jason Meidinger made a late race pass for fifth.

KELLER PARKS IT IN VICTORY LANE
In the final feature of the evening, Chris Anderson and Scott Gartner started on the front row of the IMCA Modified feature. Gartner grabbed the lead but felt an early challenge from Aaron Aaseth. While racing for the lead, Aaseth nearly looped it in corner four, allowing Crist Pittinger to slip into second. Pittinger would lead one lap before Jeremy Keller would fly by and take the lead on lap 11. While racing hard for the top three, Quentin Kinzley and Marlyn Seidler got together resulting in the points leader spinning in corner one. The caution was charged to Seidler and despite the damage to his car, he would climb through the field to finish 13th. Shawn Strand finished fifth behind Mark Dahl. Quinten Kinzley finished third behind Marcus Tomlinson, who started 13th. Jeremy Keller, in a brand new car, found victory lane for the third time this season.
